A ‘credit crunch’ wine from FONCALIEU Vignobles - Domaine de Corneille 11290 Arzens - France
An unusual Languedoc wine because it is made exclusively with the Malbec grape, which is not a variety you normally see here, especially on its own.
Wonderful deep rich dark velvety colour in the glass and on the nose it is plumy and spicy. On the palate it is rich and warming with spice and wild berry notes. A very nice bargain wine.
Winner of a gold medal at the Concours Mondial Bruxelles 2008
Cost = 3.50 a bottle.

Cork extraction is fast and easy with this traditional wing-style corkscrew. Simply turn the handle to screw the worm into the cork and push down on the raised levers to pull the cork out of the bottle. This corkscrew is constructed of durable cast metal so its mechanical parts won’t rust or break. A plastic liner on the opener’s underside prevents the metal body from chipping wine bottles. An eye in the center of the corkscrew’s handle hangs this bar accessory from a toolbar. This Cuisinart kitchen tool is covered by a five-year, limited warranty.

A cracker of a Credit Crunch wine. This Vin de Pays d’Oc (table wine) from Jacques & Francois Lurton is a very good budget organic wine. A good even garnet colour and a warm spicy nose entice you into the glass.
On the palate it is rich and warming. Pleasant cooked wild forest fruits and sweet north African spice mellow in the mouth. An excellent value wine and a good one at this time of year because it will go very well with traditional Christmas foods (sugar and spice and all things nice!!!).
Cost 4€ a bottle
